We love to travel. London, Paris, Rome, Greece, Venice, Cairo and tons of other amazing destinations have been crossed off our list over the last two years.

Next year, I think our goal is to go to Paris for a month. Mikey, our son, is somewhat excited but hesitant. I wish he could know what an amazing thing it is to have gotten to visit so many other places at such a young age. Someday, maybe.

Carnevale 2018

By whatwendysaid | Apr 1, 2018

In February 2018 we had the great pleasure of attending Carnevale in Venice, Itlay. This page is dedicated to the memories from that amazing trip. Over the week while we were in Venice we had four days that we were in costume. During that time it grew exceedingly fun to play with the men who approached me for a photo. I found that after a time I understood the whole idea of wearing a mask to hide and become a new personality. To masquerade became exciting each day. Bill giggled that I had four proposals during the four days….

Paris, France

By whatwendysaid | Apr 1, 2018

The Wedding Day It was June 14, 2016 and we had just been in Paris a couple days prior. It was our wedding day. Nothing in my lifetime will ever be more amazing than getting married at the Eiffel Tower. Okay, we actually exchanged our vows in front of Notre Dame Cathedral after the wedding photos at the Tower. The entire day was so amazing. GEOCACHE TRACKABLE Those of you who know me know that I am a geocacher at heart. You can see lots more about that on my site page for geocachers. And those of you who are a cacher…

Where are all the cars?

By whatwendysaid | Mar 25, 2018

Today I was remembering the transportation in Venice while working on this scrapbook page.   One of the things I love most about scrapbooking is how much you think about the thing you are trying to remember with the page while you are making it.   In Venice your brain can never really get around there not being cars when you get there. You make the decision you are going to go someplace, and it hits you that you can’t just go out and get in the car. There are no cars. That becomes less painful once you get your…

Paris in the snow

By whatwendysaid | Mar 25, 2018

I love Paris. That is not a secret to the people who know me. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it in June of 2016. Of course, I was wearing my wedding dress and getting married so it was a special day already. On my second trip to Paris it would be freezing cold and covered in the first snowfall that Paris had seen in many years. It was wet and nasty but amazingly beautiful. I am so thankful that I got to see it a different way. The night that we walked out to see…

Smile !

By whatwendysaid | Mar 23, 2018

One of the things that I didn’t know in advance was how many photos would be taken of us by strangers while at Carnevale.  I guess, I thought it would be fun, but I don’t think I ever knew that photographers would come from around the world to photograph those of us in the costumes and masks.  On the first day when we put our costumes on and walked out to San Marco Square we were shocked by the fact that we couldn’t reach the square. As soon as we made our way out of the tiny little street that met…

Top Things to NOT see in Cairo, Egypt (And a few you should)

By whatwendysaid | Mar 23, 2018

When we arrived in Egypt we had been traveling for a very long time. I think we were about 14 days into the trip. We had been to Paris and Venice and it was not our first time to either, so we felt at ease in both locations. That was not the case with Egypt. Of all the places I have ever visited, Egypt is the one that felt the most like I was in a foreign country. It seemed like everything was odd. Simple things seemed different. I don’t know exactly how to explain it, but I will…

Italian Men Fall In Love Quickly

By whatwendysaid | Mar 22, 2018

Over the week while we were in Venice we had four days that we were in our costumes for Carnevale. During that time it grew excedingly fun to play with the men who approached me for a photograph. I found that after a time I understood the whole idea of wearing a mask to hide and become a new personality. To masquerade became exciting each day.   Bill giggled that I had four marriage proposals during the four days. Each time that I received the question it came from a man who would run over to have his turn at…

To just not be forgotten

By whatwendysaid | Mar 22, 2018

I don’t know that I will ever be able to remember everything that I hope to remember about our vacation to Venice. Some days I really can’t focus because my mind is so cluttered with the memories and it feels like I could never forget a single detail. But the truth is I do. I forget most things that are feelings or moments, sweet and precious. I have photos and I look at them often, but I find that the little things that I write down are in the end the things that I get to recycle and experience again…
